A 59-year-old female patient was diagnosed with a Type II ASD. Echocardiography showed an evenly margined defect of 20-22mm in diameter with a balloon size of 27mm left ® right. Catheterization closure was indicated and scheduled at the Rotenburg a.d. Fulda Klinik.
A 42mm device with a 22mm self-centering ring (ASD-2242) was selected and advanced through a 12F Mullins sheath. Delivery was accomplished utilizing echo and flouro guidance uneventfully. Complete obliteration of the shunt was immediate.
